Hello! My name is Sarah Pederson and I am a professional mural artist serving La Crosse, WI and the surrounding communities. I place a high priority on painting what YOU want on the walls of your home or business. My passion is to create realistic, trompe l’oeil (meaning: to fool the eye) artwork, but I can paint in a variety of styles to suit your preferences, as well as your budget. Whether you have a specific idea in mind or need help developing an idea, I will work closely with you throughout the entire process. I want you to be completely in love with your unique, one-of-a-kind artwork.
I am excited to have completed several murals featuring the flora and fauna of La Crosse at Gundersen Health System in their Pediatric Hematology Oncology Department! Special thanks go to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for funding a grant that made this project possible. I hope my murals will bring joy and calm to these incredible kids and their families.
If you are considering a custom mural to bring your walls to life, please be aware that I am booked ahead approximately 5 – 6 months. Please contact me soon to get the process started, as there is a lot of preparation that takes place with consultations, sketching, research, and planning before painting even begins. Thank you to everyone who is keeping me busy!
Two of the trompe l’oeil murals I painted in 2018 were for my alma mater, the Westby Area School District: an inspirational mural for the Middle School, and a mural commissioned by the Fine Arts Foundation of the Westby Area. The FAFWA mural is located in the middle school commons and works its way toward the Star Dressing Room for the brand new Westby Area Performing Arts Center. That mural includes the names of 100 Extraordinary Women who pledged donations in memory of Carmen Armbruster.
I am incredibly honored and humbled that the Las Vegas Portrait Project selected me as an artist in 2018. I joined 57 other artists who volunteered their time, talents, and materials to honor those who lost their lives in the Las Vegas attack on Oct. 1, 2017. I painted a portrait of Jack Beaton, who died a hero protecting his wife on their 23rd wedding anniversary. Portraits were on exhibit Sept. 17th – Oct. 19th, 2018 at the Clark County Government Center in Las Vegas. Following this exhibit, all portraits were given to the families.
