Boxes and chalkboard mural

This trompe l'oeil mural appears to have bright, bold boxes stacked up with a butterfly shaped chalkboard for the kids to write on. Toys are painted on every wall, and a faux curtain is painted on the door.

I transformed this area under the stairs into a clubhouse for my client’s grandchildren. With ceilings just over 4′ high, I painted all the walls to look like wood, and the ceiling is painted to look like it is open to the sky. In this image, you can see how I took an area that covered up existing piping and turned into a stack of boxes, complete with a butterfly-shaped chalkboard painted directly onto the plywood.
