A trompe l'oeil vine with purple and green grapes. The vine is heavily textured with peeling bark and extends partially behind the countertop as it makes its way up toward the ceiling. Delicate tendrils climb along the wall.

My client wanted some decorative grape vines but didn’t want them to have a “stenciled” look. So I painted vines on either side of these windows and made the vines heavily textured to look like they have been there for a long time. I painted a shadow onto the wall to make the entire vine pop out and look more three dimensional. To add further interest and make a conversation starter, I incorporated the outline of Italy into the negative space of this vine, and Tuscany in the other vine. Can you see the boot shape of Italy in this photo?
